Martin’s highly esteemed career in the hospitality industry began when he gained his degree in International Hospitality Management at the highly acclaimed Swiss Hospitality Institute, César Ritz.

In a career spanning more than 25 years, he has held a large number of executive and general manager positions in corporate pre-opening, operational and development roles with major international hotels and resorts. Working closely with owners, Martin has played an indispensable corporate role in the development of the Cheval Blanc, Rhandheli, Sankara and Thanyapura brands and products.

Complementing Martin’s executive and operational acumen is his ability and passion for responsible and sustainable initiatives within the industry, from organic farming concepts to recycled glass projects. Martin worked on the development and opening of Thanyamundra Organic Resort, a luxury boutique resort in Khao Sok National Forest, with a working organic farm allowing guests the ultimate experience in eco-tourism. His work in the concept and development of Almyra Spa resulted in the first spa in Cyprus to use fully organic products, and from his role in the development and opening of Sankara Nairobi, the hotel featured the unique Kitengela hot glass throughout the hotel, each piece handmade and 100% recycled, 100% Kenyan. At Baros Maldives, a reef regeneration program was developed to enhance their natural house-reef as well as create nurseries for local marine life.

Under Martin’s leadership, the hotels, resorts and their facilities were constantly ranked amongst the top properties worldwide in prestigious industry publications and received a number of service and product excellence awards by Condé Nast, Travel + Leisure, Andrew Harper Hideaway Grand Awards, Robb Report, Gallivanter’s and Zagat’s Guides, Wine Spectator, Leading Hotel of the World / Leading Spa and AAA. Among the highlights of Martin’s work are One&Only Reethi Rah, Four Seasons Wailea, Hualalai, Las Vegas and Chinzan-so, and the Aerie.
