Giorgio and George Dalla Cia are the passionate father-and-son team behind Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit Company. Through this passion for great wine and food, the Dalla Cia’s have created a venture resulting in numerous awards, including recognition for one of South Africa’s most outstanding red wines – the Giorgio 2007, the Dalla Cia family’s 6th signature Bordeaux-style vintage – with a 5-star rating from Platter’s South African Wines 2013.
When Sankara Nairobi began looking for the right partner to fill the growth of interest and appreciation in wine in Kenya, they looked to Dalla Cia’s expertise to partner with and create a world class wine list for their restaurant and wine bar, The Gallery. They subsequently became the first hotel in Central and Eastern Africa to win the Restaurant Wine List Award from acclaimed Wine Spectator Magazine.
Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit use their successful model to pursue more full wine solutions with top tier hotels across Africa. Besides the steps taken in opening new markets in Africa for the South African wine industry, the Dalla Cias also hold chef and sommelier training and exchanges as well as arranging gourmet wine pairing evenings with other winemakers and wine estates.
