Giorgio and George Dalla Cia, long-time associates with both 365Playground and 365Playground founder, Martin Michalik, are the passionate father-and-son team behind Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit Company. Through this association, collaboration, and a passion for great wine and food, a unique African wine program was introduced at the luxurious Sankara Nairobi — a program which has resulted in numerous awards, including the much-coveted Wine Spectator Award for Excellence 2011.

With this venture, the 5-star Sankara Nairobi is the first hotel in Central and Eastern Africa to win the Restaurant Wine List Award from acclaimed Wine Spectator Magazine.

When Sankara Nairobi began looking for the right partner to fill the growth of interest and appreciation in wine in Kenya, they looked to Dalla Cia’s expertise to partner with and create a world class wine list for their restaurant and wine bar, The Gallery.

According to George, Dalla Cia Wine & Spirit plans to use this model to pursue more full wine solutions with top tier hotels across Africa. Besides the steps taken in opening new markets in Africa for the South African wine industry, the Dalla Cias also hold chef and sommelier training and exchanges as well as arranging gourmet wine pairing evenings with other winemakers and wine estates.
