Sustainable Communities, Luxurious Experiences

The acclaimed luxury experienced at boutique hotel Shinta Mani Siem Reap is merely a highlight of its commitment to responsible tourism. Shinta Mani takes this often used phrase “responsible tourism” and has made it a way of life for the hotel, its guests, staff and the Siem Reap community.

As part of the Hotel de la Paix (Shinta Mani sister hotel) team, 365Playground team member Noelene Henderson and founder Martin Michalik truly enjoyed assisting and supporting  Shinta Mani with its social responsibility programs.

The Shinta Mani Hospitality Vocational School educates young adults, “street children”, free of charge, thus enabling them with skills to improve and find employment and support their families.

Students specialize in all pertinent areas of running a hotel, including culinary arts, finance, front office, housekeeping, food & beverage and spa therapy.

In November 2012, Shinta Mani Siem Reap was proud to announce their first enrolled group of students graduated from  the newly refurbished hotel  and school facilities done by famous designer Bill Bensley, most already having found employment within the local hospitality industry.

From this success, Shinta Mani Siem Reap began to work within the greater communities in new ways, including community development programs working alongside rural families, lending basic assistance with water wells, housing, livestock programs and school materials.

Shinta Mani’s goal in enhancing the lives of individuals in the local communities where they operate, increasing their own human capital and providing them with the tools to overcome the constraints of poverty, is an accomplished model of combining the hopes and dreams of a community with the spirit of exploration and tourism.

With passion and dedication, 365Playground will continue its proactive initiatives for sustainable tourism development and is committed to supporting its partners in realizing their CSR objectives.
