The Ultimate in Green Design — Bali’s Green Village
We are huge fans of sustainable, green design within the industry, so it is no surprise that the Green Village in Bali caught our eye.
The masterplanned community of unique, custom-designed bamboo homes sit along terraced slopes on the Ayung River in Sibang, Bali.
Elora Hardy, creative director of the Ibuku design team, describes the concept:“Green Village has redefined the potential of sustainable materials. It is a place where where people connect with nature. We build light on the land. With very few resources or attention a bamboo shoot can become a structural column within three years, and that house can stand strong for a lifetime. The care we put into designing the homes and the skill of the local craftsmen is a statement about the potential for human innovation and ingenuity for the future.”
The villas are concentrated around a communal area, separated by discreet gardens. Open and airy, each building exudes light and space, allowing stunning views of the surrounding forest and the Ayung river.
While mainly used for homes, a few of the villas are used as luxury resorts, truly bringing guests as near as possible to Bali’s unforgettable natural beauty.
A percentage of every villa sold is contributed to Green School’s Balinese Student Scholarship Fund. The Green School is located within walking distance of the community.
