Afar Magazine chronicles the work of french banker Albert Kahn, who, in 1909, began his project Archives of the Planet. Over the next 22 years, Kahn sent photographers to more than 50 countries around the globe to create the archive now housed at the Musée Albert-Kahn, located west of Paris.
From Bavaria to Vietnam, Iraq to Algeria, these 72,000 perfectly preserved color “autochromes” give us a look into the world as it was, poised to plunge into the modern era.
